The fair question

Why should a mother trust another skincare brand?

She shouldn’t. Not yet. You have been given reasons before and they did not hold up. So here is everything you would need to decide for yourself. Where this came from, what we refuse to do, and the two people whose name is on the bottle.

Where it started

A Chemist Warehouse aisle.
A pregnancy. A discovery.

Usha was pregnant with our second child, standing in a Chemist Warehouse aisle, when the serum she had used for years went back on the shelf. What should have been a two-minute decision turned into an hour of reading labels and finding no straight answers.

We spent months looking for an alternative that did not ask her to give up results. What we found instead was a category full of fear-driven marketing, ten-step routines and vague promises. Good options existed. They were just buried.

So we built what we couldn’t find. One serum, seven proven actives, no compromise. Made across India, Germany and Australia, on quiet evenings, with the same care we would want for our own family.

What we were up against

Why is skincare like this?

Three questions we could not get a straight answer to, all of which land hardest on mothers. So we stopped asking and built the answer instead.

Why does every routine have seventeen steps?

Because complexity sells more bottles than simplicity does. If your routine doesn’t include seventeen steps, you’re doing it wrong — that’s not skincare, that’s anxiety with a price tag.

Who is a ten-step routine actually for?

Someone with unlimited time, unlimited budget and unlimited tolerance. Most mothers have none of the three, and a category that keeps designing for that person is not designing for you.

What does “clinically studied” actually mean?

Often nothing. Studied by whom, on how many people, for how long, against what? Language built to sound like proof without ever being proof. If a brand won’t name the trial, there usually isn’t one worth naming.

What we stand for

Four things we will never do.

01

We will never say it if we can’t prove it.

We communicate clearly and we never manipulate through fear or trend-chasing. Where a claim rests on a study, we name the study, the year and the sample size so you can go and read it.

02

We will never add to a mother’s mental load.

Every decision we make honours the weight you are already carrying. One bottle, one step, nothing to layer or alternate. Svaya does not join the queue of things asking for your attention.

03

We will never build for a curated version of your life.

Our products are made for real mornings. The rushed ones, the ones after a night of broken sleep, the ones where someone is knocking on the bathroom door. Svaya is for every mother, not only the ones with a shelf and twenty spare minutes.

04

We will never leave the hard decisions to you.

We make them upfront — on ingredients, on sourcing, on what goes in and what stays out — so that reading a label is not another job you have to do.

If you bought from us before

We were VEGA. Now we’re Svaya.

VEGA came from an image of meadows beside water. Refreshing, nurturing. It suited the serum.

It also belonged to several other brands, in skincare and well beyond it. Which made us hard to find, and harder to remember.

So we changed it. Only the name. Same formula, same bottle, same two people.

Svaya means The Self in Sanskrit.

Which turned out to be the more honest name. You have spent years last on your own list. Ten minutes handed back is not really about skin.

The family behind Svaya

We build like it’s for our family. Because it is.

We’re religious in the way that grounds us, inclusive in how we live, and a little chatty with the people we love. We care deeply about routines, health, family rhythms, and growing together — financially, physically, and mentally — while raising our children with intention and respect.

So — should you trust us?

You have seen where it started, the trial we lean on, the concentrations we print, and the family whose name is on it. That is everything we have. We think carefully and act responsibly, especially when nobody is watching. But you are a mother with a limited budget for being let down again, so decide on your own terms. A fortnight will tell you more than we can.
